A BLUEPRINT FOR SUCCESS WITH GARY VAYNERCHUK
FOLLOW YOUR PASSION AND MAKE A BUSINESS OUT OF IT
Is there a blueprint for success? Can you make a living out of your passion? Check out this amazing success story form Gary Vaynerchuk who developed a “blueprint” for success in his new book “Crush it”, a true masterpiece. Check out the valuable lessons form Mr. Vaynerchuk in this interview for ABC news radio.
Gary Vaynerchuk is a New York Times bestselling author and American businessman who was born in Belarus and immigrated to the United States as a young child. His father Sasha pulled Gary into the family business, a local liquor store called Shopper’s Discount Liquors. Before long, Gary recognized that consumers collected rare wines. Gary transformed himself into a wine expert, rebranded the store as Wine Library, launched a retail website in 1997, and by 2008 he had raised annual revenue from $4 million to $60 million. In 2006 Gary achieved one of his life-long goals when he was caricatured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal in an article about online wine sales.
In February of 2006, Gary launched Wine Library TV, a daily video blog about wine. As the audience grew and word spread of his informal and unorthodox approach to wine, Gary made numerous national television appearances as a wine expert, including spots on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Ellen Degeneres Show, The Today Show, Nightline, and Mad Money with Jim Cramer. In 2009, Gary was recognized as “Innovator of the Year” by Wine Enthusiast magazine, and as part of Decanter magazine’s prestigious “Power List” of the most influential figures in the industry.
Gary’s first business book, entitled Crush It! Why Now is the Time to Cash in on your Passion, was released in the spring of 2009 and debuted as a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller. In “Crush It!,” Gary’s first pearl of marketing wisdom is take whatever it is you love the most and develop that into a business. Educate yourself in every aspect of your passion. Read every bit of material about your subject, find others who are considered experts in that subject and learn from them. Insert yourself into the conversations on the topic and make your opinion known. Once you become an expert in your field, develop content to “sell” your ideas to others. The key to developing this rapport is building trust. Gary states over and over to be authentic and original with the content and the “eyeballs” will come.
Differentiation is another core marketing value discussed in “Crush It!” With the Internet age upon us it is exceptionally easy to blend in with the noise and chaff. One must truly be exceptional to stand out in a crowd. A favourite quote of mine from the book is “So how are you going to differentiate yourself from all the other clowns? (“Clowns” is, of course, used in the best possible way.)” It’s this, in-your-face method that Gary delivers the message that you need to be the best you that you can be. A lot of determination and super hard work. Gary has been a true inspiration to me and I believe his work brings tremendous value to anyone in business.
With gratitude,

ZHANG XIN; AN AMAZING SUCCESS STORY FROM ASIA.
The Characteristics of a successful entrepreneur
What sets successful entrepreneurs apart from average entrepreneurs? What is it that makes a real difference? In parenthood, top sport, politics or business for that matter. One of the keys to REAL success has to be drive; having a strong desire for success or achievement. The success story of Zhang Xin is a fantastic example of a person who is changing the world by this important and vital characteristic.
When Zhang Xin was 14, she lived in a firetrap Hong Kong slum and toiled in grimy factories stitching shoes and clothes and assembling toys. She dreamed of getting an office job, learning English, and studying in Britain. Today, at 39, Zhang has done all that — and more. Thanks to hard work, she studied at Sussex University and got a master’s degree in development economics at Cambridge. Then Wall Street beckoned, and she worked as an analyst in New York at ING Barings and Goldman, Sachs & Co
Now Zhang is back in China, pursuing an entirely new career: real estate. Her privately held Beijing company, which pulled in revenues of $405 million last year, is called SOHO China Ltd.
SOHO is an acronym for “small office, home office,” and most of its projects are residential and commercial developments for the upper middle class. The rapid rise in small Internet-based companies gave her and husband an idea for combined living and working spaces.
Zhang became the first non-architect to receive an award at the Venice Biennale, for her “bold personal initiative.”I don’t come from an ivory tower background,” she adds. “In many ways, that makes you much tougher in executing your plans.” As tough as any of China’s up-from-the bottom entrepreneurs.
Check out the continuous dedication and future plans despite the economic downturn:
In a larger sense, Zhang represents the new breed of Chinese entrepreneurs, who were born in China, were educated in the prestigious universities in the west and were trained in business and management in leading American and European companies before returning home. Zhang is forward looking, self confident and business savvy. Most of all Zhang is a calculated risk taker and is ENORMOULSY driven. Zhang is an example of the new dynamos in China’s Economy.
With less ambition or business acumen, Zhang might have well ended up in an office on Wall St. What makes her stand out is her enormous drive to make a difference, her awareness and vision for the coming of age of her homeland. As Zhang puts it:”Revitalizing Beijing’s street culture is my job”
With gratitude for Zhang Xin for setting an example for what is possible.

LEADERSHIP EDUCATION WITH RICHARD BRANSON
ENTREPRENEURSHIP WITH RICHARD BRANSON
From high school drop out to multi billionaire..how do you do that? Operating my own business I am very interested in other business leaders and leadership development around the world to see what their philosophy is about achieving massive wealth creation. At an amazing personal development conference that we promote I learned from one of the speaker that anyone can be your teacher as long as you listen. What better to learn and listen from people around you who are achieving huge results right now, here today. Sir Richard Branson needs no introduction…wow..what an amazing leader. I came across the following in his book (“Business stripped bare”) which is just so profound for any type of business. Talking about the simplicity and fanatic dedication that will bring you results. Here it is.
Those business leaders who seek, in interviews and in their writings, to turn their industries into complex puzzles, subtle chess games of one sort of another – these people really, really annoy me. It isn’t enough for them that they’re good business people: they have to be Confucius. To listen to them, you’d think you must be born into an industry to make any headway in it. And this is rarely true unless you are truffle hunting. A basic understanding of the business, gleaned by immersing yourself in every little detail for months or even weeks, is often enough to get you started. The volume of information you’ll need to hack through will be high – so find some friends to help you – but the underlying business model is always fairly simple.
Remember to communicate, and pay attention to detail. You wouldn’t believe how far you can get, just by remembering and practicing those two rules.
In our business we train and guide people within an extremely, proven successful business model to make sure that they will succeed. All they need to do is follow the system, nothing else. My observation is that people still are changing a successful formula. The ones that are fanatically dedicated, can communicate and are determined to keep it simple are the winners.
When I met Mr. Jim Cathcart, in Macau/China earlier this year he was talking about: “exceptionalise your business”, which is such an important and valuable statement and I believe not many business owner do. Sir Richard Branson is the prime example of being exceptional in what he does.
So thank you sir Richard Branson for being such a great leader and setting the example of what is possible.

ACHIEVING SUCCESS WITH THE AMAZING MR. RAY CHARLES!!
GRATITUDE FOR THE AMAZING RAY CHARLES
A few months ago I watched the movie “Ray”, the life story of Ray Charles, one of the most incredible life stories I have ever seen. Completely intrigued about how someone from an under privileged background can create such enormous success. Taken away by such inner strength, total self reliance and confidence. This is such a lesson to all of us how to achieve success.
The great Ray Charles was an explorer who returned time and again from expeditions across musical boundaries to give us, in his own unique way, melodious stories and charts of his adventures. From rock ‘n roll, soul , R&B, swing, gospel to Country music Ray Charles broke barriers that nobody thought was possible. In so doing he changed what had previously been only a black and white territorial paper map of American music into a 3-D, solid terrain model, full of colour.
Ray Charles Robinson was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Albany, Ga. His father, Bailey Robinson, was a mechanic and a handyman, and his mother, Aretha, stacked boards in a sawmill.
At just five years old Charles had to endure the trauma of witnessing the drowning death of his younger brother in his mother’s large portable laundry tub. Soon after the death of his brother he gradually began to lose his sight and by 7 years of age Ray Charles was blind.
But Charles would not be denied and rather than give up, he made a significant geographical relocation to Seattle, Washington. It was in Seattle’s red light district at just 16 where he met a young Quincy Jones only 14 himself. He taught the future producer and composer how to write music and arrange. It was a friendship that lasted a lifetime with the two working on many sessions together later in their careers.
His first 3 recordings were made in Tampa, Florida in 1947 and included Guitar Blues, Walking’ And Talkin,’ and Wonderin’ And Wonderin’. Charles got his first taste of commercial success in 1953, when he arranged and played piano on bluesman Guitar Slim’s recording of The Things That I Used to Do, which sold more than a million copies. The real Ray Charles emerged in 1954 on a record called I Got A Woman. The recording reached #1 on the R&B chart in 1955. More significantly it brought together elements of gospel music in a secular setting, in a way they had never been married before, and served to spawn a whole new genre later to become known as Soul.
The movie “Ray” is a must see. Gratitude to Mr. Ray Charles for changing the world. Love it!!!

KEYS TO SUCCESS WITH MATT CROWDREY!!!!!
SELF RELIANCE WITH A SUPER-FISH
Matt Cowdrey (born 22nd Dec 1988)is Australia’s new ‘super fish’ after collecting his fifth gold medal and fourth world record at the Beijing Paralympics. His achievements also saw him awarded Paralympian and Male Athlete of Year at this year’s Paralympian of the Year Awards.
He won five gold medals – all in world record times – and three silver medals, placing him at the top of the individual medal count for the Paralympics. This eclipsed his medal haul at Athens in 2004 of three gold, two silver and two bronze, and earned him the role of flag bearer for the Australian team Even before the Beijing Games had begun, Matt had already achieved Paralympics, World Championship and Commonwealth Games glory.
Born with a congenital amputation to his lower left arm, Matt broke his first Australian open record at age 11 and his first world record at age 13. He has since gone on to break more than 70 world records at the Beijing closing ceremony
Outside of sport, he balances a full training program with studying for a double degree in law and media at the University of Adelaide.
Check out the valuable lessons from Matt and the comments from his mother in this amazing story:
Laurie Lawrence (one of the most successful sport coaches) once said: “When you get a talented person who is prepared to pay the prize you will have a superstar!” Matt Crowdrey is in my eyes the ultimate definition of a superstar. Matt stated that when he is in moments of success he is not focussed on anyone else or any other thought process. He is complete in the moment and things just happen. How profound. We often seem so occupied with things around us. What people think of us or how we would look like to the outside world.
The only way to succeed as a human being is to do things for yourself. Matt was told by his parents to do things for himself. So often do we shift the responsibility or blame external factor for our own results. Matt Cowdrey is a perfect rolmodel for all of us to take full responsibility for our own creation. We are truly the creators of our own universe.
So thank you Matt for raising the bar again. You are a true inspiration to me and I will follow your performance very closely.

SUCCESS PRINCIPLES WITH PINK!!
PINK IS GOLD!!!
During my daily workout in my local gym my mind wondered of. But all of a sudden my attention was focused to one of the big flat-screen televisions on the wall. There it was. The music video clip from Pink with one of my favorite songs of all time – “Dear Mr President”
Pink (Alecia Beth Moore) born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania has achieved tremendous success within the music industry. Often perceived as rebellious and controversial she was able to find her own direction and had the strength and courage to step away from the ‘herd’.
It is often that rebellious mindset that we can find in successful people. To a certain extend I do believe that rebelliousness (is this a word?) is found in entrepreneurship. The ability to create your own path despite what is considered normal by or society and therefore seen as rebellious and controversial is one of the keys to success. Pink sums it up so profound and simple:
“I decided at 15 that I didn’t want to be one of those artists that get up and sing love songs they don’t mean. I decided that I was going to be me to the fullest extent, that my songs were going to reflect relationships I’ve had, things I’ve been through, and even the stuff I’m embarrassed about”.
Only by being ‘me to the fullest extent’ will pure creativity rise to the surface as is shown in one of the most important and authentic songs that was created from a total alignment of purpose and being in complete self confidence. No consideration or attention to the possible reaction of the outside world or possible return on investment; on purpose fabricated to suit the needs of the music market. No not at all. “Dear Mr President’ is an absolute tremendous awesome piece of art.
So thank you Pink for being true to yourself, for showing how to succeed. You rock. You’re Gold!!

THE KEYS TO SUCCESS IS HAVING A GOOD SENSE OF AUSSIE HUMOUR!!!
When I migrated to this amazing country one of the most appealing things of the Aussie culture (besides so many other beautiful things) was its sense of humor. In business leadership, political leadership, communities and everyday life the Australian humor is one of the best around the world.
Australian humor has a long history that can be traced back to our origins as convict colonies. It is therefore no surprise that a national sense of humor quickly developed that responded to those conditions. This unique sense of humor is recognised (although maybe not always understood) the world over as being distinctly Australian. Our humor is dry, full of extremes, anti-authoritarian, self-mocking and ironic. In times of adversity (bush fires, flood, hail storm etc) this is one of the keys to success that has rebuilt so many families, communities and businesses. Aussie humor has really formed the foundation of the Aussie culture and its entrepreneurship.
Although I love so many comedians, Dave Hughes is one the best: ENJOY!!!!
Australians can have a very black sense of humour. While in many cultures it is considered poor taste to find humour in difficult circumstances, Australians tend to look for this lighter side. This is perhaps our strongest reference to our brutal past, where humour was a means of coping with a bad situation. A (perhaps unintentional) example of this is the naming of the Harold Holt Memorial Swimming Pool in Melbourne after a Prime Minister who disappeared whilst swimming in the ocean in 1967.
Australians also have a strong tradition of targeting themselves as objects of humor. A regular on the stand-up circuit is comedian Steady Eddy, who has cerebral palsy and uses his disability as material for his routines. One of his gags talks about how hard it is for him to find love – whenever he sees a beautiful woman, he finds himself wishing ‘ …if only she had a limp’. Australians from ethnic backgrounds also use this type of humor very effectively. Television and stage shows such as Acropolis Now and Wogs out of Work have honed this form of humor to an art, with performers mocking their ethnic backgrounds and traditions. This is probably one of the reasons why many achieve success. It is one of the characteristics of being a successful entrepreneur.

LESSONS WITH DR YUNUS….PART 2
ENTREPRENEURSHIP…..THE ANSWER TO OUR PROBLEMS?
Is having a successful business just about wealth creation? Is achieving success only about financial freedom or would there be a deeper purpose about being entrepreneurial? Is there a deeper purpose about what we do?
Dr.Mohammad Yunus’s (Noble peace prize winner) view is that many of the problems of the world remain unsolved because capitalism is poorly understood and poorly practiced. The issue, he says, is not in the capitalist system itself, but in the hash that people repeatedly make of it. He completely rejects the common views, that capitalism is all about the bottom line. He says: “In this narrow interpretation we create a one-dimensional human being to play the role of entrepreneur. We insulate him from other dimensions of life, such as religious, emotional, political dimensions….Everyday human beings are not one-dimensional entities, they are excitingly multidimensional and indeed colourful. Dr Yunus thinks capitalism can – and should – enrich the whole person.
How true and profound! We are all connected. It’s only with the realization of a multidimensional entity where the inner creativity of a human being can be fully utilised. We are therefore so capable. Entrepreneurship is of more importance when a multi-dimemensional interpretation is practiced and will be the foundation of a strong multidimensional society. A successful business will therefore always obtain a deeper purpose than just creating profits. The integrity of the home based business I am involved in is of high priority to me as making profits will always be a bi-product of the real purpose of the service and value we provide to the society as a whole. It’s therefore that my passion for this home based business is founded in the deeper purpose of it. Any business with a strong deeper purpose will be worth being part of and fighting for!

lESSONS FROM DR. YUNUS…part 1
BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES WITH A DEEPER PURPOSE!
Having my own home based business I am always very interested in general business and what the underlying motivation is for someone to step into the business world to ultimately achieve success; whatever the definition of success might be. Whilst reading Richard Branson’s book (“Business stripped bare”; highly recommend it) about entrepreneurship I came across this interesting statement from Dr.Muhammad Yunus that I absolutely love
Dr.Muhammad Yunus is the Nobel Peace Prize winner 2006 and has pioneered an economic system that transformed the lives of millions. Muhammad is a proponent of ‘social businesses. He states:
Ordinary businesses are aimed at making money….there is no consideration of how people benefit; it’s all about making profits. Social business, on the other hand, is all about social benefits, not personal gain. Profits are important to social businesses, which seek to sell products at prices that make it self-sustaining. A social business is not a charity – but profits are not its ultimate goal. When a social business turns a profit, the original investors are repaid, but the rest of the profits stay with the company in order to achieve its long-term social goal of helping the poor.
Being entrepreneurial and involved in a business myself with a deeper purpose is so liberating and profound. I could never be involved in an ordinary business as there is nothing more satisfying then helping other people and making a contribution or change in their lives. Forever grateful to Dr. Yunus for your effective leadership and the business that I am in.

THE ULTIMATE IN SELF DISCIPLINE..WATCH THIS MOVIE
SELF DISCIPLINE WITH LANCE….UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!
If we talk about high human performances there is probably one word that pops up in my mind and that is self discipline. One of the keys to success has to be discipline – no doubt. I have never seen or heard from a successful person without self discipline. Whether you talk about wealth creation, leadership development, financial success or Olympic gold medal performances, self discipline is one of the pillars of success
What Is Self-Discipline?
Self-discipline is the ability to get yourself to take action regardless of your emotional state.
Imagine what you could accomplish if you could simply get yourself to follow through on your best intentions no matter what. Picture yourself saying to your body, “You’re overweight. Lose 20 pounds.” Without self-discipline that intention won’t become manifest. But with sufficient self-discipline, it’s a done deal. The pinnacle of self-discipline is when you reach the point that when you make a conscious decision; it’s virtually guaranteed you’ll follow through on it.
If we talk about self discipline one name comes up in my head: Lance Armstrong! 7 times winner of one of the toughest races in the world, the tour du France. Below you can watch an amazing footage where Lance is preparing himself, with full self confidence, in the off season of the pro-circuit. Being a fanatic follower of the tour I know that most pro-riders will have a rest period during the time when Lance was in full self discipline, training in winter, in the Alps. Incredible. Please note the weather conditions. Most riders will use this as an excuse to stay at home; I cannot blame them, to be honest. Watch the movie and see for yourself…the ultimate in self discipline..ENJOY!!!
note: listen to Lance when he get told he cannot go any further. I love it!!
