A BLUEPRINT FOR SUCCESS WITH GARY VAYNERCHUK
FOLLOW YOUR PASSION AND MAKE A BUSINESS OUT OF IT
Is there a blueprint for success? Can you make a living out of your passion? Check out this amazing success story form Gary Vaynerchuk who developed a “blueprint” for success in his new book “Crush it”, a true masterpiece. Check out the valuable lessons form Mr. Vaynerchuk in this interview for ABC news radio.
Gary Vaynerchuk is a New York Times bestselling author and American businessman who was born in Belarus and immigrated to the United States as a young child. His father Sasha pulled Gary into the family business, a local liquor store called Shopper’s Discount Liquors. Before long, Gary recognized that consumers collected rare wines. Gary transformed himself into a wine expert, rebranded the store as Wine Library, launched a retail website in 1997, and by 2008 he had raised annual revenue from $4 million to $60 million. In 2006 Gary achieved one of his life-long goals when he was caricatured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal in an article about online wine sales.
In February of 2006, Gary launched Wine Library TV, a daily video blog about wine. As the audience grew and word spread of his informal and unorthodox approach to wine, Gary made numerous national television appearances as a wine expert, including spots on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Ellen Degeneres Show, The Today Show, Nightline, and Mad Money with Jim Cramer. In 2009, Gary was recognized as “Innovator of the Year” by Wine Enthusiast magazine, and as part of Decanter magazine’s prestigious “Power List” of the most influential figures in the industry.
Gary’s first business book, entitled Crush It! Why Now is the Time to Cash in on your Passion, was released in the spring of 2009 and debuted as a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller. In “Crush It!,” Gary’s first pearl of marketing wisdom is take whatever it is you love the most and develop that into a business. Educate yourself in every aspect of your passion. Read every bit of material about your subject, find others who are considered experts in that subject and learn from them. Insert yourself into the conversations on the topic and make your opinion known. Once you become an expert in your field, develop content to “sell” your ideas to others. The key to developing this rapport is building trust. Gary states over and over to be authentic and original with the content and the “eyeballs” will come.
Differentiation is another core marketing value discussed in “Crush It!” With the Internet age upon us it is exceptionally easy to blend in with the noise and chaff. One must truly be exceptional to stand out in a crowd. A favourite quote of mine from the book is “So how are you going to differentiate yourself from all the other clowns? (“Clowns” is, of course, used in the best possible way.)” It’s this, in-your-face method that Gary delivers the message that you need to be the best you that you can be. A lot of determination and super hard work. Gary has been a true inspiration to me and I believe his work brings tremendous value to anyone in business.
With gratitude,

ZHANG XIN; AN AMAZING SUCCESS STORY FROM ASIA.
The Characteristics of a successful entrepreneur
What sets successful entrepreneurs apart from average entrepreneurs? What is it that makes a real difference? In parenthood, top sport, politics or business for that matter. One of the keys to REAL success has to be drive; having a strong desire for success or achievement. The success story of Zhang Xin is a fantastic example of a person who is changing the world by this important and vital characteristic.
When Zhang Xin was 14, she lived in a firetrap Hong Kong slum and toiled in grimy factories stitching shoes and clothes and assembling toys. She dreamed of getting an office job, learning English, and studying in Britain. Today, at 39, Zhang has done all that — and more. Thanks to hard work, she studied at Sussex University and got a master’s degree in development economics at Cambridge. Then Wall Street beckoned, and she worked as an analyst in New York at ING Barings and Goldman, Sachs & Co
Now Zhang is back in China, pursuing an entirely new career: real estate. Her privately held Beijing company, which pulled in revenues of $405 million last year, is called SOHO China Ltd.
SOHO is an acronym for “small office, home office,” and most of its projects are residential and commercial developments for the upper middle class. The rapid rise in small Internet-based companies gave her and husband an idea for combined living and working spaces.
Zhang became the first non-architect to receive an award at the Venice Biennale, for her “bold personal initiative.”I don’t come from an ivory tower background,” she adds. “In many ways, that makes you much tougher in executing your plans.” As tough as any of China’s up-from-the bottom entrepreneurs.
Check out the continuous dedication and future plans despite the economic downturn:
In a larger sense, Zhang represents the new breed of Chinese entrepreneurs, who were born in China, were educated in the prestigious universities in the west and were trained in business and management in leading American and European companies before returning home. Zhang is forward looking, self confident and business savvy. Most of all Zhang is a calculated risk taker and is ENORMOULSY driven. Zhang is an example of the new dynamos in China’s Economy.
With less ambition or business acumen, Zhang might have well ended up in an office on Wall St. What makes her stand out is her enormous drive to make a difference, her awareness and vision for the coming of age of her homeland. As Zhang puts it:”Revitalizing Beijing’s street culture is my job”
With gratitude for Zhang Xin for setting an example for what is possible.

SUCCESS PRINCIPLES WITH PINK!!
PINK IS GOLD!!!
During my daily workout in my local gym my mind wondered of. But all of a sudden my attention was focused to one of the big flat-screen televisions on the wall. There it was. The music video clip from Pink with one of my favorite songs of all time – “Dear Mr President”
Pink (Alecia Beth Moore) born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania has achieved tremendous success within the music industry. Often perceived as rebellious and controversial she was able to find her own direction and had the strength and courage to step away from the ‘herd’.
It is often that rebellious mindset that we can find in successful people. To a certain extend I do believe that rebelliousness (is this a word?) is found in entrepreneurship. The ability to create your own path despite what is considered normal by or society and therefore seen as rebellious and controversial is one of the keys to success. Pink sums it up so profound and simple:
“I decided at 15 that I didn’t want to be one of those artists that get up and sing love songs they don’t mean. I decided that I was going to be me to the fullest extent, that my songs were going to reflect relationships I’ve had, things I’ve been through, and even the stuff I’m embarrassed about”.
Only by being ‘me to the fullest extent’ will pure creativity rise to the surface as is shown in one of the most important and authentic songs that was created from a total alignment of purpose and being in complete self confidence. No consideration or attention to the possible reaction of the outside world or possible return on investment; on purpose fabricated to suit the needs of the music market. No not at all. “Dear Mr President’ is an absolute tremendous awesome piece of art.
So thank you Pink for being true to yourself, for showing how to succeed. You rock. You’re Gold!!

KEYS TO SUCCESS WITH QUADREPLEGICS!!!
KEYS TO SUCCES S WITH QUADREPLEGICS!!!
Have you ever complained about the taste of your cappuccino? Have you used a few swear words when your DVD is not playing? Or when the weather is too hot?…then check this out.
Polaris Global has just released an insane documentary about the Sadler’s Ultra Challenge Wheelchair Race called “Unbeaten”. The Sadler’s Ultra Challenge is a 267-mile wheelchair race from Fairbanks to Anchorage, Alaska. It is the world’s longest wheelchair race. Divisions include Men’s Handcycle (with A, B, and C classes), Men’s Wheelchair, and Women’s Handcycle. The 267 mile (430 km)-long race is run in eight stages and takes six days to complete. The annual competition began in 1984 and occurs in July of each year. Tremendous courage and self reliance is shown by Oz Sanchez (USA) ,Ernst van Dyk (South Africa) and Paul Nunnari (Australia). All participants from any level have overcome tremendous adversity within their own lives. From living a ‘normal ‘ life to becoming disabled (don’t like to use that word) is a tremendous slap in the face. Sometimes it takes a tragedy to turn things around. Some of the wheelchairs racers even went on to achieve success as top athletes.
With huge honors I was privileged to meet both Sanchez (Gold Medal winner Olympic Games Beijing, China) and Paul Nunnery (Olympic athlete, winner of Sadler’s race) at a conference about building confidence and how to succeed in life; whatever your definition is about success. Paul Nunnari summed it up so beautifully:
“I don’t dwell on it; there’s nothing that I can’t do,” he said. “Since my accident, I’ve believed so strongly in living your life and embracing your dreams”.
“People’s limitations in any kind of disability are the limitations they put on themselves. If you don’t have any issues about it you don’t have any limitations”.
“Despite what may cross our path in life, having an inherent belief in your ability to achieve what you set your mind to is in all of us no matter what our situation.”
To me this is so profound and authentic. Are you still complaining about your coffee?

ACHIEVING GOALS WITH 16 YEAR OLD JESSICA WATSON!!
SELF RELIANCE..JESSICA WATSON IS AN EXAMPLE FOR ALL OF US!!
One of the keys to success is self reliance. When are people old enough to rely on them self and achieving goals that they always dreamed of? To me, age is not part of the equation. Take Jessica Watson as an example. She received so much criticism for living her dream and hopefully succeeding. She is an perfect example of how to succeed regardless of the doom sayers.
16 year old Jessica Watson is gearing up for the most dangerous part of her solo round-the-world voyage. The teenager is heading for the world’s most deadly stretch of sea, Cape Horn, relying solely on the headsail after suffering a problem with the mainsail. Jessica Watson’s parents have flown to South America in the hope of catching sight of her as she rounds Cape Horn.
Cape Horn is notorious for strong winds, big waves, strong currents and icebergs. But despite admitting to being a “little bit on edge” because of the strong winds and cold, the Australian teenager is in good spirits and enjoying the challenging conditions. “The cabin temp has been sitting on 4C. The wind chill outside is really quite something. Handling wet lines on deck is just downright painful, but mostly I’m staying toasty warm in all my layers,” she said.
Jessica Watson is expected to reach Cape Horn early next week. If Jessica completes the trip around the world, she will become the youngest solo yachtsman to circumnavigate the globe.
“There are people out there who I suppose have their doubts, and rightly so because it’s a big, scary and possibly dangerous thing, but I am not here without self confidence,” Watson said.
In preparation for the race, the 16-year-old sailor hit a 60,000 tonne coal tanker off the coast of Stradbroke Island in pitch darkness. I came through the whole thing feeling pretty confident. I mean, I won’t play it down, it was a pretty scary incident,” she said. “But years of planning and learning obviously paid off.
She was shaken, but not stirred from her resolve to circle the globe alone. In fact, she’s thus far found the accident to be an exercise in self-reliance. “The whole incident gives me confidence ..wow, I can actually handle this,” she told reporters. “It could have happened to anyone… I’m unlucky I suppose, but you also learn from it.”
Jessica is showing tremendous leadership and showing people around the world to live your life and chase your dreams…well done Jessica and thank you!!

THE FUTURE IS IN OUR “BEING” AS A PARENT!!
BUILDING CONFIDENCE AS A PARENT
Being a parent myself (two young boys) I am very conscious about my behavior and effect on the character shaping of my two little “monkeys”. Being a parent is the best thing in the world. The endless rumbles, playing trying tricks to each other and the endless questions about the happenings from a child’s world perspective is priceless. Very consciously I praise my two boys as much as I can. It really builds confidence in their little minds. After I praise my youngest son (4 years), he often asks me: “are you impressed with me”? How beautiful!
Ray Burke states, “Praise is powerful. Praising your child is one of the most important things you can do as a parent. Praise is nourishment. It helps your child grow emotionally, just as food helps your child grow physically” (Burke, 1997, pg. 51). One could not have summed up what the effects of praise are any better than that. Praise is a method of keeping focus on the positive of any situation. Charles Schaefer’s’ book, How to Influence Children, states that praise is to give a “realistic, positive appraisal of a child’s performance” (pg. 230).
The reason behind giving praise is to build up self confidence, to give a belief of personal satisfaction, with the addition of feeling secure within one’s self (Hurlock, 1978, pg. 311). There is a sense of confidence that one has when one knows that someone has paid attention and has encourage them with a positive response, due to their efforts. Norma Cutts stated that praise makes you radiate “well-being” (Cutts, 1952, pg. 245). So in praising your child it will only encourage them to do well at whatever task they are faced with doing. It creates self reliance which is one of the keys to success no matter what they like to achieve (Burke, R., & Herron, R. (1996). Common Sense Parenting. Nebraska: Boys Town Press).
Anything we do and who we are towards our kids matters. For us, for them and for the next generation. Everything matters!!

GOING DOWNHILL…WITH GRATITUDE FOR HERMANN MAIER
ACHIEVING SUCCESS IN VANCOUVER OLYMPIC GAMES 2010
Being a real ski ‘bum’ myself I am always super excited when the winter Olympics are coming up. My favorite event is, with no doubt the Alpine skiing (particularly the Downhill). Having skied the famous world cup run in Kitzbuhl myself (not in competition but on my holidays, may I add) I do have some sort of an indication about the level of self confidence and self reliance the top skiers must have in how to succeed when they go down these insane runs.
Alpine skiing has been practiced in the European Alps for at least 150 years. In addition to adapting cross-country techniques to suit their steeper slopes, alpine skiers also found they needed slightly wider skis to go downhill safely, and developed different ways to use their poles and new turning techniques to match the more vertical terrain of the high mountains.
Alpine skiing for both men and women debuted as an Olympic sport in 1936 at Garmisch-Partenkirchen. In 1948, separate downhill and slalom races were added. From that time, super combined was not contested at an Olympic Winter Games until 1988, in Calgary. The giant slalom was added in 1952, and the super-G in 1988.
The downhill event features the longest course and the highest speeds in alpine skiing. Each skier makes a single run down a single course. The fastest time determines the winner.
How to succeed for the Canadian team will probably come down to the right selection as there will be fierce competition within the Canadian team(Guay, Kucera, Hudec and Osborne-Paradis). Maybe this will lead to beating the Austrians. With the retirement of Hermann Maier, the Austrians will have to come up with a bunch of success strategies. And what a super location for the Olympics, having great memories from Whistler myself. I just can’t wait
With gratitude for the legend Hermann Maier!!!!

True leadership with Desmond Tutu
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT BY STEPPING INTO UNCERTAINTY!!!
Leadership! What a concept. A topic that arises nearly every day. In politics, sport, business, home based businesses and even in the family home. We have big leaders dominating our world but what is true leadership? Often through our business structures people are put in places that gives them power to tell other people what to do. Is this real leadership?
Currently I am reading a book from Deepak Chopra were he talks about seeking certainty and living in uncertainty, in relation to leadership education and becoming successful as a complete human being. Please let me quote: “Leadership education lies in the wisdom of uncertainty. Without uncertainty, life is just the repetition of outworn memories. There is no evolution in that, and when there is no evolution, there is stagnation, entropy and decay. When we experience uncertainty, we’re on the right path, and it’s the fertile ground of pure creativity and freedom”
This is where true leadership is, this is where wealth creation evolves and this is were true leadership development takes place.
Desmond Tutu sums it up so beautifully. Please enjoy this movie that shows leadership from the heart, from pure creativity and freedom born out of the wisdom of uncertainty. Enjoy!!

THE LAW OF ATTRACTION
Since the movie “The Secret” came out a few years ago the law of attraction became worldwide known. The Law of attraction has been around for many centuries and is well understood by those who are achieving success. The law of attraction is such a liberating concept and should probably be part of any leadership education. The true understanding can create miracles; business success, financial freedom, weath creation, etc, etc. However I feel that the concept is misunderstood in many cases. Let me bring forward two publications from Abraham – Hicks Publication that will clarify the true working of the Law of attraction
The Law of Attraction is responding to your vibration, and you can easily change your vibration point of attraction by visualizing the lifestyle you desire and holding your attention upon those images until you begin to feel relief, which will indicate that a true vibration shift has occurred. Every thought that you think is vibrating at a very personal frequency . . . and by the powerful Law of Attraction (the essence of that which is like unto itself, is drawn), that thought is now attracting another thought that is its Vibrational Match. And now, those combined thoughts are vibrating at a frequency that is higher than the thought that came before; and they will now, by the Law of Attraction, attract another and another and another, until eventually the thoughts will be powerful enough to attract a “real life” situation or manifestation Excerpted from Money and the Law of Attraction — 3/31/09
You live in a pulsating, vibrating Universe of advanced harmonics. Everything that exists, in your air, in your dirt, in your water, and in your bodies, is vibration in motion—and all of it is managed by the powerful Law of Attraction. There is nothing that exists outside of this vibrational nature, and as you learn to accept your vibrational nature, and begin to consciously utilize your emotional vibrational indicators, you will gain conscious control of your personal creations and of the outcomes of your life experience. Excerpted from Money and the Law of Attraction — 3/31/09

Michael Jordon’s failure!!!
PERSERVERANCE, PERSISTENCE AND DETERMINATION; THE KEYS TO SUCCESS
Being a business owner myself I am completely absorbed and fascinated with achieving success, not just in business but also in my personal life, with my fitness level and my relation with my family.
At the moment there so many beautiful home based business opportunities available, a real change to completely change you life and create financial success. As with any business it does require self responsibility. Often when people fail I can see them blaming the system while other people are succeeding using the same system. Or the latest trend is to hop from business to business. Unfortunately I have never seen these people become real leaders. So what is it that makes a real difference?
There are so many stories about successful people and what they have achieved, often we are not exposed to the other site of the coin and see what they had to go through to achieve those great things in their lives. Often it is the determination and the “never give up” attitude that will bring you the results. These are the real keys to success. Coming from the top sport world myself I came across this amazing footage from the one and only Michael Jordon. Please enjoy and my message will come clear (please read more below the footage):
Single mindedness, determination, dedication, self-belief and the inability to ever give in are what distinguish people who do great things with their lives from those whose dreams die with them. When you have great perseverance you take into account what others say but you don’t let it rule you. You remain true to your vision. I like to bring forward a little quote I think is so simple, beautiful and relevant to this blog.
“Patience and tenacity of purpose
are worth more than twice their weight of cleverness.”
Thomas Henry Huxley
